A clumping perennial with strappy green leaves and sprays of small blue-purple star-shaped flowers followed by striking metallic blue berries. A versatile landscape plant that tolerates a wide range of conditions. The berries were traditionally used as a food source and for creating blue dye.

Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Sow at 5mm depth in well-draining mix. Keep warm and moist. Germination is slow and irregular (4-8 weeks). Patience is rewarded.
